In case anyone is interested I have had success restoring the sound to
X-Men games - the process is shown on flippers - but a board sent in by
a customer turned out to have these other problems...

If you attempt this yourself be very careful removing the hybrid chip -
you can crack the material (ceramic) then you have to jumper a lot of
wires to repair it...it takes me about 2 hours start to finish to repair
these, and a handful of surface mount (or radial) caps.
