RE: Road Runner test mode?

Well it looks like the only difference between those two sets are the e
position rom.

And that is what I burnt, so the rom error in self test is just going to be
lived with.

The only diff between the two e versions is the name string changing from
Road Runner to Desert Gun.

This board is from a dedicated Roar Runner so the owner will want the name
string to match.

Thanks for the help.

David

Oh crap, they changed the ROM names at some point. But the e, f, g, and h
are still in the names so use them for guidance.

OK let's go deeper into this than I wanted to (mainly because I don't

Quite a while back, MAME consolidated ROM files. So they now end up loading
ROM thusly (thusly?):
9316.1h from desertgu at address 0000-07FF
9316.1g from desertgu at address 0800-0FFF

9316.1f from desertgu at address 1000-17FF
9316.1e from roadrunm at address 1800-1FFF
So all you should need is the other 3 files from desertgu I'll save you the
trouble and attach it here.

Good luck, sorry about pointing you the wrong way before.

Should be 4 2716's. I have no clue what this 82s130 is about. And the
names don't make a whole lot of sense the address map for these boards is
0-1fff.

Oh the joys of MAME ROM handling. Whoever wrote the game in the first place
is in ROADRUNR.ZIP and ROADRUNM.ZIP then changes one ROM to "Midwayize" the
game.

Warm the programmer back up and make the other 2 ROMs, one of them has an
error.

Good luck!

One rub, now that I have the board working it looks like the rom checksums
are stored in H and replacing E with the road runner image results in a
failure of self test.

So I suspect there is also a road runner version of H.

Sounds like it has 8K (1k x 8) roms 2708 or equivalent

The other three roms are in desertgu

And in follow-up. Quarterarcade signature generator doesn't find this game.
So I went to try to track down the roms. I have found a couple of sites
with roadrunm.zip but it only has a single rom in it.

9316.1e which is about 2k in size.

The board I here is using all 8 sockets. It is strapped for what appears to
be 7609's.

Anyone know a good source for the roms on this?

Thanks,

David

As I am on an 8080 kick I grabbed a Road Runner to test. Mowermans old page
says switches 7,8 off is test mode. Setting them and booting results in a
modified rug which eventually ends. It ends up with a set of vertical bars
and nothing else.

Anyone know how this test mode is supposed to work?

Thanks,

David
