I think the eBay seller was scammed - the auction story was this was
found in a storage unit. I suspect someone (service tech?) previously
simply stole the PCB, and popped the Styrofoam in to replace it and
it then went back to the owner who promptly forgot about it.

Oddly enough the socket IS the original one for the burner and the
LEDs are the correct colours for the locations they occupy. Someone
went to some trouble!

It seems a bit too obvious for a technical person to not notice this
'feature' when they would buy it that leads me to assume the seller
is innocent. They don't sell any other electronic gear. I've simply
asked for my money back and I shall then mail it back to him...

No reply so far (six hours)! I think my feedback could prove to be
interesting if I'm not satisfied (link to pictures comes to mind!).

Always best to not annoy techies or computer nerds, isn't it?
