Well, here is the latest. Just to try it, I put a new Voltage Regulator
(VR1) in the "smokin" HV board. As you recall from the last episode, the
previous VR1 was cracked and burnt, blowing smoke when you applied
power. Well, this one was no better. I applied power and within a few
minutes I started to see smoke, apparently from VR1.
Any suggestions on what could cause VR1 to burn up? I'm still looking
over the FAQ, but not being very good with electronics, it's real dry
reading for me.
Thanks for all the suggestions so far... I don't mind replacing ALL the
parts on the board, but I would like to try in in some kind of logical
order.
