Yep, I've had the same problem....mine will only accept "NEC" 2114's for some
reason. If I use chips from any other manufacturer it doesn't want to know....

I suspect that this is a power supply voltage problem though since I've found
out that my ARII is faulty and the voltage reaching the AVG board is 4.7V (just
outside the spec for TTL circuitry).
