I have checked the lock on a Tek scope and a Frequeny counter.

I did not see anything special on the display, but the freq. counter sometimes
double-triggered and showed sometimes 12 MHz on the 6 MHz. The scope showed it
was 6 MHz, however, the 1.5 MHz showd allright at the couner.

Maybe I'll just replace the devider and clock logic.

Did you actually look at the clock on an oscilloscope or just use a logic
probe. Maybe it's not always dropping low enough for logic zero and your
getting an intermittent clock signal, or long pulses and short pulses. It's
worth checking.... also the counter at C4 might be missing a bit so it isn't
deviding up the clock signal properly. Do you have 6mhz at pin 3, 3mhz at
pin 2 and 1.5mhz at pin 6?
