Why don't people just disable the sense ?

This way, the edge connector wont burn up damaging the edge foils..

Also, if your game fails to boot if there is oxidisation buildup on the edge
connector, the psu isn't going to pump up the voltage until it pops. The
board wont boot, because somethings awry, simply go back there and wiggle
the connector (you should really clean this properly or replace it) and it
should come back on. This way, you can't harm your pcb by under voltage when
the contacts get dirty, it will just not boot. clean edgies, adjust voltage
if need be.
