Sounds like a pokey problem. I think that the pokeys control the sound and
controls. I've had this problem on a SW where the controls and sound went
wonky, replaced the pokeys and everything was fine after.

There will be 2 longer chips on your smaller sub-board, near the 4 switch dip
switch. Not to be confused with the four 2901's.
