Alright, you said the screen wasn't flipping, but it still doesn't hurt
to check the DIPswitch (with an ohmmeter, just because it is
mechanically in the "on" position doesn't mean it's actually
"on"--especially if it's one of those &$^*%$! Grayhill switches).
