90 and 100-degree tubes

A friend of mine asked me last night *why* Atari (or Wells-Gardner)
chose a 100-degree picture tube for the WG6100, which as I understand
it, is much less common than the 90-degree tubes used in televisions,
raster monitors and the Amplifone vector monitor.
