Re: TECH: Battlezone Audio Problems

The Aux board is where all of Atari's AVG games-- Battlezone,
Red Baron, Tempest-- keep the sound hardware, including a Pokey
(two Pokeys, in the case of Tempest.)

What's happening with the explosions, tank rumble, and shot
sounds? Discrete components generate these sounds; if they also
cut out, your problem is bigger than Pokey. Try swapping 4066s
as another poster suggested. These act as amplifiers for *all*
the sounds.

My Battlezone had intermittent sound with *two* known working
boardsets. Turns out that the cardboard bellows inside the base
of the speaker had a crimp in it, preventing the cone from
moving. Hard to find, but very easy to fix.
