Joe,

Look for 2nd hand books at flea markets and Elctronics fairs written by
Rodney Zaks or Lance A. Leventhal they were the guys who wrote excellent
books way back when (1982'ish) and they give coding examples and routines to
incorporate in your code like BCD/Ascii/Hex conversion and Maths routines.

Amazon currently have reasonable condition 2nd hand titles listed for around
$35.

lookout for

Programming the (series of books append Z80/6502/6809 as needed)
by Rodnay Zaks

Assembly Language Programming (series of books append
8080a/Z80/Z8000/6502/6800/6809/68K/80386)
by Lance A. Leventhal

I picked up a 6502 book by Leventhal for 2UKP in really good condition at an
Radio Ham Fair.
