If you grabbed the schematics , print out page 7A. Once you can figure out why
your watch dog circuit is going nuts you should be ok. Perhaps the 74ls74 at 6R?
just a guess.

The watchdog related stuff is on the left side of the page. The whole left side
of 7A is interconnected, keep in mind.
