Bingo! Give the man a cigar. :)

Don't know why I didn't think to check that (think I checked almost every
other signal in that area though) - once I could see that is was being held
low I found it was caused by a tiny fragment of metal that had been lodged
between two pins at E6.

Now all I have to do is sort out the resetting VSM problem, a chore which I
hate. Hasn't anyone more knowledgeable than I yet written a 'guide' to
debugging the Asteroids VSM?
