RE: Omega Race

The +5 signal had a nasty spike on it. Got the red LED and the monitor would
NOT show vectors, but the hv whine was going and the filament was glowing
regular. The second i replace the caps it came right up. I would check the
+5 with an oscilloscope and see if it is clean. Mine looked like a triangle
wave with a parasitic spike at the tip. Those huge value caps are a pain to
locate, i talked to my EE friend and we mathematically figured out the
correct modern value to use with less current drain on the power supply
circuit. I think I have some pics somewhere. the game runs fine and has for
months with no issues.

Chris- What would your machine do when it reset? Also- I am getting no
video. Was it you who posted last year about the cap replacement? If so
which ones did you use?

Thanks

Those BIG Filter caps on the power supply, get rid of them and replace with
good ones. My CPU would hang because the caps read good, and then a load was
placed on them, and I got a nasty spike on the +5 logic that put mine into a
perpetual RESET mode.

Howdy Y''all

I have an Omega Race that plays blind. The selftest says Roms 9 through 14
are bad. Do Roms 13 &14 need to be programmed with anything special? If
so- is there a list member who can burn these for me- for a price For that
matter, is there anyone with the right replacements for mine that are bad?

Also, is there any good way to test this monitor without a working board? I
will occasionally get random (yet crisp)garbage scrolling across it- today-
nada. The LED is illuminated on the monitor PCB.

Thanks
