it's not, they where crap even when they where new,
because they only have one sprung section the contact area is poor.
also with age they lose the "springyness"

change it before your pcb has a lump of burned fibreglass where the power tracks used to be.

then you will have to power it with soldered wires (like me) :-(

this has allways been a problem for atari, and they never realised the cause.
it began with the b/w games and went on through starwars & i-robot.
then they replaced the edge-connector with a molex plug for the power.
