talking of this transister (not bu509 hehe)
has anybody tried a modern replacement such as bu508a or bu2508a (faster version) ?
bu2508a is very robust and fast, it was designed specificly for fast flybacks.
i am considering using them in a couple of re-builds.
they will fit directly to the pcb and you can use a piece of right-angle ally or copper to sink them to the case.
