Fwd: differences in Atari POKEY chips?

Hey there, any of you guys know the differnces between atari pokey chips?

On me battlezone, I have C012294B-03, are C012294-01 compatible?

I have no idea of the spec, if they have preprogrammed rom on board for
the 'signature tunes' or are they just tone-generators and I/O ports?

Can anybody tell me the difference between -01 & -03 - speed rating?

Or point me to a page somewhere?
