The Jan '06 Circuit Cellar has a review of a new serios of modules from TI,
the PT5100 series. They are switching regulator modules pin compatible with
standard 78xx series liniar regulators, and about the size of a TO-220 on a
heatsink. They are about $12 each in single quantities.
My frist thought was, I wonder if it would be worth it to replace the regs
in an Ampliphone with these, for the reduced heat and current draw, and if
they are applicable at all to use in repair of old equipment.
