Simon,
You hit it! I foolishly had two of the Transistors swapped. All is well now.

Luckily the smoke didn't get out.

I also noticed the newly fixed monitor is centered better than the old one.
Is that adjustment the X.lin./Y.lin. Pot on the deflection board?

Thanks for your help.

Bob

maybe one of transistors is bad I have had a few that were bad from new.
Maybe they are in the wrong places PNP were the NPN should be?

Subject: VECTOR: 15v2000 Help

I have been trying to get the 15v2000 in my Ast. Dlx. Cabaret up and
running. I have another working unit to swap assemblies from.

I tried it briefly and got no picture and no glow. I decided to do a cap kit
and solder headers and replace chassis transistors.

Tried it last night and the r100 and r101 resistors got smoking hot. HV was
around 25KV.

So I swapped the suspect hv unit and deflection boards into my working unit.
they both work fine in the known good unit.

So now i have it isolated to the chassis or the tube. The chassis
transistors are not shorted to the chassis. I guess i'll try swapping tubes.

Could it be the harness? The Dag connector spring(I moved it back and forth
a bit to break any corrosion)? Can I swap in a 19" Tube to test?

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Bob
