I need a replacement too, if you dacide to order a lot of HV units I could
be interested. The quantity?

i cant see why you cant make a hv unit with a tv transformer,

use an oscillator like in the 6100,
fix the frequency at 15khz (because it was meant for it) and adjust the
voltage or duty-cycle to get the required output voltage.

because there is no feedback type regulation it may even bloom when the
deathstar explodes like the original did.
