There are some ZVG related options you need to put into your mame config
file if you don't already have them, specifically:

zvg_menu = yes

which will prevent Mame from closing the ZVG on exit, so when control
returns to the menu it can carry on drawing vectors.

You may also want to add:

zvg_artwork = yes
zvg_overlay = yes

The former draws the on-screen boundaries in Armor Attack and Warrior,
making them much more playable without an overlay. The latter emulates the
coloured gel overlays and will colourize vectors for B&W games on a colour
monitor (or maybe that's the other way around...)

As Dan says, the Sega games need samples so ensure you have them where mame
expects to find them.
