This is an old post that I made. Not sure why the cap is on some boards.

I have come across two Omega Race boards that have a 100pf cap across R234.
This is the X inverting amp circuit.
If it was not done at the factory someone did a nice job soldering.
It is just soldered across the resistor.
Anyone have a clue why these boards would have this modification?
It is only on the X side not Y and would only affect when in flip screen
on a cocktail. One board matches serial number of cabinet which is a mini,
which does not use flip screen.

Thanks
Tim

I think it's just a problem with the DVG. Having never played OR before I wasn't aware of the issue. So it's good to know other have the same issue. I'm going to call it good, as the machine plays very well.

Just checked...and yes, if you fire into the wall, while butting up against it, it does cast phantom lines out like that....

Yeah I got you. It's been cleaned.

It's been puzzling me for a few weeks now. I've run a bug trap on just about everything I can think of, and haven't come up with anything.

It doesn't do it during the attract screen, but then it doesn't fire as fast, or as much as I do.

Yes, Cleaned, the L shaped one, and re-flowed, and re-pinned the molex style.

Yes, passes everything, Test screens look fine, sound test work fine.

Well there was minimal acid damage to PR1 area just below the battery. Those look like the ram select circuits.

All ram has been re-socketed, and any residual acid damage cleaned up. The Fluke isn't reporting any ram problems with the long test.

The area in the video is where the problem really shows up. During a normal game, there are slight glitches in the middle box area.

Roms have been replaced, and custom chips checked and cleaned.

So I'm at a loss atm.

Will try Googling asteroids problems and see what I find, but so far nothing with the description givin.

It reminds me of the connected lines problem of the explosions on Asteroids and Asteroids Deluxe boards. Google that issue and it may also provide some clues where to look on your OR circuit.

If your Omega Race board is doing what Kevin's youtube video
shows, then your board has a problem. I have repaired a few
and this is not normal. It has a problem.

Check for bad traces from acid damage.
