RE: Major Havoc test mode

*see below for the beeping reasons*... looks like you have a RAM error
on the Zero page...

So from the Alpha side it looks like this... in gameplay mode

1. Alpha waits for Gamma intial 0x00 command, if not sent, the
Alpha watchdog will bark

2. If Gamma did send initial 0x00, then it will now wait for the
second command with the test data, it actually only looks at the 4
high-bytes which are always 1's regardless of Gamma status. If these are
not all 1's, then the Alpha sits in a loop infinitely until the watchdog
barks

3. Alpha goes into normal RAM and ROM init and starts attract
mode.

In self test, Alpha does this...

1. Alpha Clears ALL RAM

2. Alpha does a Zero page RAM check (0x00-0xff). If there are any
problems on the zero page..

a. Alpha sends a sound command that is the bonus beeping (same as
winning a life, I was wrong earlier when I said it was for when the ship
was landing).

b. Alpha sits in tight loop until watchdog barks

3. Alpha Test remaining RAM

4. Alpha Test ROM

5. Alpha Test Vector

6. Alpha Asks Gamma for test results on its side

7. Alpha displays test results

Ok video is up. If you can tell me what ram it is that would be great.
But I don't think that will be the case. It beeps rapidly for about 5
secs then stops, as you can hear in the video.

Here's a quick video of the beeping.

It's still processing so the video may not be avail for a few more
minutes.

I think Jess is correct. I had a MH board that also beeped at me with
no video. From what I recollect, the number of beeps pointed me to a
specific RAM chip (after consulting the manual) that I replaced and
voila! Board worked just fine after that...

One of the easiest board repairs I ever had....took about 5 minutes ;)

The beeps mean that there is a RAM error of some sort I believe.

Ok I'm not having any luck with this thing at all.

No video in test mode

In fact when you put it in test mode you get a rapid succession of beeps
for about 4-5 seconds, then it stops beeping.

It's not watchdogging

I've been able to fluke the program roms, and rams, and even the paged
roms with good sigs

Not sure how or if I can check sigs on 106 107 and 110

on the gamma side I can check 108 just fine.

If the gamma processor isn't communicating, I would think I would still
have video showing me that the gamma isn't communicating..

Lost.
