use a scope to check the amp power supplies for AC ripple
and make sure all of the high voltage wires are as far away from the board
as possible. Also make sure the X and Y input wires are away from any high voltage.

How would I check for that Tim?

Looks like you have some AC voltage getting into the X and Y amps.

Hi all,

Doug and I have been working on building a reproduction 25" Amplifone using a new deflection board design from an Australian designer (Dez). Overall it's working extremely well, but we are seeing some odd distortion in shapes. It's most apparent in circles, but can been seen in most shapes on the screen where letters look a little warped and joins between vectors overlap.

I know even 6100 deflection boards do have a little of this, but it seems to be more apparent on our board.

Here's an extreme example of the death star on the star wars start game menu...

Doug mentioned that he thought it may be down to the tolerances of some of the new components we are using on the deflection board. I wanted to throw it out to the group to see if anyone has any ideas of where we might look in the circuit to investigate this odd issue.

Joel
