Hi guys,

Thanks for the info. My NTE $4 comment is because I just tried to buy some
TL081 equivalents the other day. $0.45 from Jameco - $4.08 as an NTE part
from my only local electronics shop. Ouch!

It turns out the vertical hold pot was bad on my almost-working XY
board. I switched that over with another one this morning and could dial
in a vertically synchronized picture. I still had the horizontal waviness
(a hula as Randy Fromm puts it) and my 127v was up at 144v. I have a ton
of glue on the 127v pot adjustment that I haven't chiselled off yet. I
took the power board off and TR501 and TR502 tested out fine. Somehow in
the process of checking them (taking them off and putting them back), the
horizontal problem has gone away. It's a steady picture now. I haven't
checked the 127v since then though.

The only other problem I'm having is there's only the faintest bit of green
on the screen. I swapped in several interface boards without any change
and checked TR402 on the neckboard (in circuit). TR402 looks fine but I'll
probably swap it out and see if it's the culprit. There was no effect from
adjusting the green cutoff.

How can I tell if the green gun is dead? Can I measure resistances on the
neck board socket somehow?

Thanks again for your help.

-Werner
