The TIP29C is probably in a TO-220 case, 3 leads out of one end with a
metal tab out of the other. If that is what the old one looks like
then, fine.

But if the old one is in a TO-3 case, metal with two holes and 2 pins,
something like a 2N3055 or, since this IS the vectorlist, a 2N3716
should do.
