That article is very nebulous.

The original IBM PC used the 8-bit bus version of the 8086 -- the 8088.

A simple bit of searching yielded a ton of sites, but:

I owned one of the orignal IBM-PCs when they first came out and built some
hardware for it (so yes, I had torn it apart).. Somewhere in a box deep
in a storage area (or my parent's house) I've got the original PC Technical
Reference with the schematics.
