So far as I know, most eprom programmers and the CAT box all use the same process for calculating checksums, just a straight additive and throw away the overflow. The checksums that Kurz-Kasch programmers and signature devices is also the same, so I suspect the majority of devices use the same process for making checksums (additive).

There is a program for making checksums from the rom file (called ROMSUM-on my site for download) this will create a simple checksum of any single or group of files on screen (DOS). But this would not be very convenient for routine troubleshooting and that was the point of finding someone to re-write the Fluke 9010A code to simplify the operation...
think that they do.

It should be easy to dump the ROM listing and then write a program to
compute the checksum from the listing. (or maybe ignorance is bliss!)
>I, and many other folks cursing the 9010A, would REALLY like the code
>modified to give CHECKSUMS instead of the weird FLUKE "signature". As the
>base unit uses a Z80 I was hoping some genius out there would be interested
>in rectifying this serious oversight of Flukes'...any takers? Reward!
