Re: New Vector Games

I just rejoined the vectorlist after a several year absence. Thank Joe
Welser for reminding me of its presence. I pretty much exited the hobby
and am just re-entering -- albeit on a less ambitious scale.

I picked up my table-top tempest from Forward Air yesterday. It's in
good condition. There is some flaking of the underlay around the edges
of the glass. The controllers and game work great. The monitor is
going to need a little work -- some linearity problems. When I get my
upright moved from my old place to my new place I can switch out
components to find the problem.

The monitor part of the underlay is 'foggy'. Does anyone know what I
should clean the underlay with? I'm worried about scratching,
discoloring, and possibly destroying it with household cleaners.
Suggestions?

All this talk of new video games and a UART had me thinking. If I had a
tty program that had the spinner hooked to send 'up' and 'down' signals,
the fire button to hit 'enter' and superzapper to hit 'd' and I hooked
it into a linux box running elm, I could use my new table top tempest to
check e-mail! That would be so sweet...

I wonder if there's enough bandwidth/storage in the vector hardware for
80x25 characters. Anyone?
