Just unscrew and remove one of the deflection transistors (it only take a
second) and see if the screen looks the same or drops to a single line. If
it looks the same, you have the bad transistor.
The vertical transistors are the ones on the side.

Subject: Stupid vector monitor question

Hi All,

I have a WG color vector monitor that I'm trying to get working. It's not
deflecting on the top half of the screen (on a horizontal monitor). Is the
top half the minus section or the positive section? Thanks.
