Re: WG6100 Rebuild Questions

Hi,

From my limited experience:

I got my Space Duel Monitor in sad shape blooming on the game
select screen and faded colors. It then stopped working and smelling.

I checked the resistors/caps/transistors...

Found a bad resistor R907. While waiting for my cap kit
I replaced it and one diode. I replaced the 2w with a 5watt
resistor. The picture came back with a bad smell ;-) and black spot.

I waited until my cap kit came in and did that and replaced the R907
(again). The cap kit fixed it.

So this made me come to this (limited) conclusion:

1) Luke, Do the cap kit

2) the resistors seemed to go bad in response to bad caps

After I did the cap kit according to this excellant write-up I also
followed the instructions about the LV2000..

http://www.amug.org/~necro/video/zanen206.html

I don't recall for sure whether or not the LV2K made any difference
in picture quality (don't think so but I think it is intended to make
the thing more reliable).

Also if you install the LV2000 you don't need to do the caps/resistors
in the LV section which the web site above warns you about...

The end result was nice bright vectors :-)

Thanks to everyone on this list....

Frank
