        It's basically right. The French word for Current is
"Intensite" (Which, literally translated, is Intensity. There might
be an accent on the e.) Since Ampere (French) discovered it, the symbol
for current, I, came from the French word.

        Using "I" for current caused other "problems" for Electrical
Engineers. "i" usually is used to mean sqrt(-1). Not for us EEs!
sqrt(-1) = j (small "j", because big "J" is used for current DENSITY! I
have no idea where J = current density came from!)

        Anyways.....
