G'day folk,

Thanks for all the quick replies. Sounds like my plan to carve a "nook"
into the custom control panel to accomodate a person's fingers is the
correct approach.

ps - Quantum's a fun game to play with a good trackball...I was surprised
that my wife also enjoyed it! She hasn't gotten into any of my games since
Robotron.

Quantum uses a standard midi-size trackball, it's the control panels which
are different. I've got one of each in front of me (projects in process)
and have put them side to side to compare. While they are identical in width
the Q.C.P. is much deeper, about 10" depth, compared to 8" for S.D.
(measured
to where it starts curving upward. The bottom of the Q.C.P. is also deeper,
4.5" compared to 2.5". To get more finger space the Q.C.P. extends back
below
the monitor glass line then angles up and out. The 'nose' of each C.P. is
about the same and the bend angles are identical. The trackball for Quantum
is as far forward as it can possibly go, in fact, there is no bolt/nut in
the front position to gain a little more forward positioning.
