If this is what I think it is (the distortion) I've seen it several times
before. In every case, replacing the deflection transistor fixed the
problem.

Subject: Star Wars brag & corrector, how to remove spray paint

A friend of mine was visiting with a local shop keep at the comic book
store (looking for Pokemon stuff for his kid) when he noticed that the
Star Wars that sat in the corner was missing. The owner said it stopped
working a year ago and had been taking up room in the garage. With
winter arriving soon, his wife wanted the garage back. He said he had
been trying to sell it for $200, but nobody was interested. My friend
immediately called me and the deal was done!

The side art has scratches and the front art has over-spray where
somebody repainted the coin door without masking it off. Any hints
on removing spray paint without damaging the artwork ? The monitor
shroud and controller had all the decals pulled off and the monitor
is dead. Marquee needs to be replaced. The PCB works just fine.

Over the years I purchased and saved both the monitor shroud and CP
w/yoke that I would rate as 8 or a 9 and I have a spare WG monitor.
By the end of the night I had every thing transplanted, it looks a lot
better than it did.

In regards to the display corrector which I have yet to install, one
thing
I noticed is that the text towards the top of the display, is distorted.
The
only way I can describe it is that the horizontal lines of the text look
like what the horizontal lines of a square wave look when the cap on
a scope probe needs trimming real bad. Has anyone else seen this ?
If so has the corrector cleaned it up ?
