Thanks for the enlightening discussion!

The next time I have the game out I'm gonna make a few more measurements -
especially the base to emitter voltages. I did set the scope to the highest
range (with capture) to make sure that I wasn't missing an enormous voltage
spike, when I didn't see one I then increased the gain to observe what was
happening at the low end. Very interesting.

After I make all of these measurements, chances are I'll swap out what I
did with a BU406D anyway, but the experiment was educational.....

DOS = easy
Windows = easy
OS/2 = more difficult
Linux = possible, but spend a lot of time trying
