Battlezone display problem

I have a strange problem with by Battlezone. The game works and plays fine,
except for a minor problem with the text characters. In the self test mode,
when the crosshatch is lined up correctly, the line of characters at the
bottom is off the right edge of the screen by about a character and a half.
If I adjust the X-BIP to move the characters back inside the box, then the
crosshatch is way off. The effect this is having in the game is that
certain portions of text, primarily scores, are all smashed together. Has
anyone ever seen this or have an idea where to start looking?
