Yes, I too "stress-tested" several electronic components in the driveway by
connecting 120 VAC across their leads, with a VERY long extension cord.
That was in my wild, mis-spent youth, you understand. Those chips could
really dance as they whooped and hollered their final swan song.

Once I almost burned down the garage by seeing what would happen if you
connected a wad of steel wool across two D-cell batteries. Believe me, that
Boy Scout trick WORKS, and works a little too well. It's far too easy to
start a campfire this way. <WHOOMP!>
