Anthony,

    The 78xx/79xx series are voltage regulators. 78xx
are positive regulators and 79xx are negative
regulators. The last two digits tell you what voltage
the regulator is for: 7805 is +5v, 7815 is +15v, 7915
is -15v. You should be able to find these at any
electronics shop or mail order place (Mouser, Digikey,
etc), probably even Radio Shack.
