I also had a problem like that. The other symptom was that there was
practically no way to adjust the HV. Turns out that the Zanen kit that
I'd just installed had a bad chassis transistor -- cleverly I'd installed
it into the negative side of the low voltage regulator (well, one of
regulator circuits -- it's been a couple of years). As soon as I replaced
it life was good. Can't always trust those parts from Zanen (I've had a
couple of defective transistors.. can't complain for the price though.. :)
