Sounds like a replacement light mechanism socket or a different coin door
was placed on or maybe you got a fluke!!!

I agree Rad Shack has the screw in base blubs, but do not stock 47's so you
lucked out. 47's can still be had EASILY (think pinball supplies), I will
tell you that the 5V bulb will burn out quicker and burn brighter if the
supply voltage is 6.3 volts.

my .02 -- BTW my Space Duel from the same era uses 47's in the coin door.
