lots of ideas from everybody.
lets strat with something cheap and simple,
let it warm-up and then spray the pots and diode with freezer-spray.
the diode is worth less than a beer, so i would just replace it with a 5w part.
(just 2 B sure!)
if it's the 2 pots that are bolted to the HV unit in a white plastic molding,
dont panic.
these focus/brightness modules are cheap and easy to get from tv spares
supliers.
