I was under the impression that the TL081 had ONE opamp, the TL082 had
TWO opamps, and the TL084 had FOUR op amps in the package. I know I
should look it up, oh all right, I'll look it up......

Yup, just as I said above. If you have a socket for the TL082 the '081
isn't going to cut it.

Hint: Radio Shack stocks the TL082 as part number 276-1715.
