I have no idea what would cause that particular symptom...but I can give you
a suggestion on the other "more dead" board. Try replacing the AVG chip
with a known good one. Every Space Duel, Gravitar, and Black Widow PCB I've
had that was *totally* dead, the AVG was bad.

Subject: VECTOR: Space Duel Problems - Anyone know the "Next Step"?

Hi Everyone,

I got a nice Space Duel but it has problems. When I turn it on in self
test mode, it does nothing. After a minute or so, this appears on the
screen:

http://mywebpages.comcast.net/al-warner/pics/DSC00016.JPG (Ignore the
red light on the side, it's a reflection from my camera).

I have already swapped out the ROMs, Replaced two RAM chips, and swapped
out the Pokeys.

If I switch it to game mode, I get some random Space Duel stuff on the
screen, but it will not coin up and play. I have two PCBs - the other
one is more dead.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Al
