Zonn and I were recently discussing this.

We're having trouble figuring out the number that we could make and sell.
We've heard from about 5 people that are interested. In order to build that
few, the price would be absurdly high. One option we have been considering
is some sort of kit, or perhaps bareboard only, or board plus programmed
CPU. We would probably open source the firmware as well.
If we made 25 boards, the bareboard would have to sell for around $50.
If we made 100 boards, the bareboard would have to sell for around $30.
The programmed CPU would be about $20

The ZVT proto we made a while ago had two boards, a milled plastic front
panel, and front panel artwork. All those items make the cost go up, so we
think that if we made the kit PCB a single board, with room for an LCD and
buttons, it would be more cost effective. We could also design it to fit
into an off the shelf plastic case if desired.

Any comments are appreciated. Thanks,
-Bill
