RE: MH and Tempest spinner not compatable?

Not a good idea to reduce the resistor size and the current through the
Infra-Red LED will increase by a substantial amount and it shall croak a
lot sooner. That is if the resistor is the load resistor for the LED (as I
suspect).

If the spinner is not working with MH, but does in Tempest, then you need
to check if you have the power getting to the spinner on the MH... If power
is present, then check outputs of the spinner with either a voltmeter (turn
VERY slowly) or logic probe to make sure the state is changing...
