Ampliphone HV revisited

I'm finally getting back to the Ampliphone HV board I was fixing back in
January. Reviewing quickly:

o Monitor was blowing +24 reg and BU406D.

o Replaceing both, reg now gets very hot and BU406D blow again

 o With BU406D out, +/- 24 checks, Waveform at 555 checks out

o All other transistors / SCR check out

o Replaced the brown jumper with wire -- no change.

What was left was the Wintron and the red can. I've since tried Tom
McClintock's replacement of 3 10mh inductors in a triangle -- still blows
the BU406D, and reg's get very hot. (I've added a 1.5a fust to the +v
input, didn't blow this time).

My LOPT tester came yesterday, spent a late night last night building it --
and the Wintron rings fine.

So what's left is starting to swap parts with my working ampliphone --
something I don't relish doing as I don't want two dead Wintron's and/or
MC1's on my hands. That, and takeing out every other resistor, cap, etc and
testing them.

I am open to suggestions at this point.
