Sorry for the late posting, but I think there is another set of Roms not
on MAME. Or, more differences than this series of posts suggests !

I have two "original" Atari machines, (a cabaret and an upright) and when
I first got the upright I noticed that there were several variations to
the actual game. The main thing I recall is that passing an oncoming tank
on the side, then turning and shooting it was pretty easy on one version,
while on the other, this manoevre seemed almost impossible, since as soon
as you started to turn back, you got shot. This may only be a simple
parameter for turning rate somewhere, (ie: a single byte) but it sure made
the game a lot more of a challenge and shortened the game usually, so
obviously an income generating move on the part of Atari to placate arcade
owners from complaining about 1 or 2 hour lon sessions at the game (which
I can manage quite easily !!).

The other thing I recall (at its been a few years) is the frequency of the
missiles seems increased.

And another thing, as for sloping high-score tables, this seems to only
occur when the AVG or Dacs pack up for me. Neither version exhibit this
feature, unless there is a fault in the circuitry (which I have seen and
fixed).

Just my 2cents worth...

Regards - Tim.

Subject: VECTOR: bzone and bzone2 roms - whats the diff

What is the difference between bzone and bzone2 roms. I dissassembled
them
and it appeared the difference was in the area of displaying the high
score
table during attract mode.

There is only one CPU rom different between the two sets in MAME.
bzone has 036414.01 and bzone2 has 036414a.01

Does anybody know if there are other differences?

Is one set more common or more preferred?

Thanks in advance for any info.
