  I'm interested...

(OT) I'm not sure what is happening with techtoolslist. My host changed systems and it seemed to die at the same time. (Lots of headaches!!) Yet when I go in as administrator the list of subscribers is there...has anyone posted to TTL in the last couple of weeks with nothing happening as a result?

Ok, looking for a quick poll of people interested in this wedge.

Caps Lock / Num Lock / Scroll lights: Does anyone care if they light or not? Making them light requires that I modify the keyboard interface to be bi-directional so I can turn on the lights from the micro.

Ability to record / playback macros: I have complete control over use of the modifier keys and what they mean. The ALT key on the standard PC keyboard has no equivalent for the 9100. As such it would be simple to make some rudimentary keyboard macro ability EG:
ALT+CTRL+R Start recording in next key pressed slot
    Press F1
Type in some series of keys until ALT+CTRL+R

Press Alt+F1 to play back recorded macro

The macro's would have to be short (not sure but probably <= 20 chars total) unless I added some external ram (which is possible).

Either of the above will add some additional cost / time to the project. The first I can see being useful but not critical. The second is a pie in the sky but really cool feature.

    You decide :)

Oh, and I pretty much have all the translations done. Time to start moving to the target micro then to protoboard.

I now have the wedge responding to the 9100 reset (though it sometimes takes a couple of tries). And my unit goes into edit mode. Of course I have no idea what to do when I am in that mode :)

I currently have alpha / numeric keys working (no translation required).

A few other keys work but my next task is to build the complete translation table in code.

This is currently running on a AT90S8515 on the STK500 dev board. So once I get the translation table working the way I want I will work on a smaller chip and an integrated PCB.
