The only known failure I know of was Tim Tewalt, but this was a Penn Tran
replacement. Looking through my e-mail archives, it's a Feb 1997 RGVAC
thread "Wintron (Amplifone) Flyback Bulk Buy".

Also a September 1998 thread "Amplifone Problems - Wintron Flybacks are NOT
forever" but that wasn't conclusive. a) because it wasn't clear the flyback
had died b) Al Warner described his flyback as "an older flyback" (Penn Tran?).
Also in the same thread, Joe Welser claimed to have run across a dead Penn Tran
replacement.

I think there is some clear evidence that the Penn Tran replacement made for
Atari has some failures, but I've never heard of any actual Wintron failing.
